Nolwenn Peterschmitt

Nolwenn Peterschmitt was born in 1992 and is co-director of Groupe Crisis, a young collective based in Marseille. Her artistic practice constantly shifts between research into the performer’s body, its raw embodiment, and movement as a manifestation of desire.

After studying at the École Nationale Supérieure de Théâtre en Limousin headed by Anton Kouznetsov, Nolwenn Peterschmitt worked with several directors including Martina Raccanelli, Jean Claude Fall, Thomas Ress, Jean Baptiste Tur, Julien Mabiala Bissila, Stéphanie Loïk and Vera Ermakova. She was also a member of the Zavtra collective based in Limoges and was involved in two of their creations. Today she and Laurène Fardeau are joint directors of Groupe Crisis, a company founded in Marseille in 2017. She also works with the Cirque Inextremiste, the Grand Cerf Bleu collective, the Erd’O company and the De Ceux Qui company. Artistic encounters and travels allowed her to explore her relationship with theatre and performance, putting her in contact with other practices, especially dance. She danced with Delavallet Bidiefono during a residency in Brazzaville, with Serge Aimé Coulibaly at the Fari Foni Waati dance festival in Bamako, and with the Kubilai Khan Investigations company at several events. Later on she discovered Krump thanks to Nach, butô thanks to Gyohei Zaitsu, and clown performance with Cédric Paga and Adell Nodé Langlois. Her radically different and powerful practices allow her to constantly develop her investigation of the performer’s body and its potential as a limitless tool.
