Based in Marseille, the AOZIZ network focuses on intersectional struggles for the rights of disabled migrants, asylum seekers, LGBTQ+ people, feminists and Muslims. In the framework of its annual festival, it presents a special day of events featuring the documentary Les Trans dansent ! (Mylène Chrisso, 2022) and the opening of an exhibition of photographs of several members of the association. In these portraits taken on the fly or posed for in places that are meaningful to their models, we sense not only universal aspirations for peace, safety and happiness but also an underlying experience of rootlessness. The exhibition continues on line in audio format as these people in search of stability, caught up in the construction of a kind of normality that best matches their status, tell their own stories.

The fifteen portraits presented in this exhibition invite us to witness the daily lives of refugees or migrants who have found refuge in Marseille, challenging our ability to reach out to them.
