Haircuts by Children

Mammalian Diving Reflex - Darren O’Donnell

Torontos / Marseilles
hair experience

Trained by the Canadian collective Mammalian Diving Reflex and the expert hands of professional hairdressers, children from the Vincent-Leblanc school in Marseille embark on an adventure where everyone is equal. An unforgettable creative experience that’s all about sharing and caring for one another… Make an appointment at the salon for an amazing show!

The idea of getting your hair cut by 10-year-olds might surprise you or make you smile, but it’s a serious proposal with a big heart. Adults and kids meet in a pop-up salon with just one idea in mind: having fun changing the way they look. This highly original project, both in terms of its form and its foundations, explores the notion of trust in others. Here, the kids are in charge of appointments, reception, cutting and colouring! An unexpected situation for everyone, concocted by the Canadian collective Mammalian Diving Reflex, who love creating unusual social situations and making them meaningful. Thanks to them, these kids are given a new status and play an active role in society, while the adults agree to lose control and put their trust in the children’s creativity, dexterity and responsibility.
