Maryam Kaba
Maryam Kaba is a Franco-Ivorian dancer, choreographer and activist. A former French Rhythmic Gymnastics champion (1992 and 1994), she founded the dance fitness concept AFROVIBE® in 2013. Inspired by Afrodescendant dances, Afrovibe is based on the values of self-acceptance, respect, sharing, and joy.
Maryam first developed the concept in Paris and then in Brazil for four years. She advocates for multiculturalism, fostering numerous collaborations and community initiatives. Based in Marseille since 2017, she works in France and abroad to promote the empowerment of women's (and men's) bodies, encouraging them to overcome societal pressures and reclaim their bodies to strengthen their self-esteem.
In 2019, she became an active member of La Famille Maraboutage, a Marseille-based artistic collective of DJs, performers and dancers committed to anti-racism and feminism and supporting the LGBTQI+ community.
Maryam Kaba is an associated artist at the Ballet national de Marseille for its 2022-2025 seasons.
