After studying at the Higher Institute of Drama in Tunis, earning the title of “young hope for Tunisian theatre” frol the National Theatre Institute and pursuing a stage and film career in France and Tunisia, Radhouane El Meddeb presented Pour en finir avec MOI (2005) at the Rencontres Chorégraphiques de Carthage in Tunis. This was a revelation that paved the way for a series of twenty dance pieces first performed at Montpellier Danse (Hùwà, Ce Lui in 2006, Sous leurs pieds, le paradis co-written with Thomas Lebrun in 2012 and À mon père, une dernière danse et un premier baiser in 2016), at the Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis (Quelqu'un va danser... in 2008) and at the CnD in Pantin (Je danse et je vous en donne à bouffer in 2008 and Ce que nous sommes in 2010). In 2011, he presented Tunis, le 14 janvier 2011 at the Beirut Art Center (Lebanon), as part of Meeting Point 6 and À l'étroit with the writer Philippe Adam at the Concordan(s)e Festival. From 2011 to 2016 he was associated artist at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS and presented Nos Limites (2013), Au temps où les arabes dansaient... (2014) and Nous serons tous des étrangers (2015) for the Venice Dance Biennale. Heroes, prélude (2015) was performed at the Panthéon in Paris and Heroes (2016) at the Festival de Marseille. In 2017, Face à la mer, pour que les larmes deviennent des éclats de rire was first performed at the Festival d'Avignon.
In 2019, the choreographer staged Swan Lake with the Ballet de l’Opéra National du Rhin at the Strasbourg Opera and presented the trio AMOUR-S, Lorsque l'amour vous fait signe, suivez-le..., inspired by the poetry of Gibran Khalil Gibran, at the Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis. The MAC VAL – Musée d’Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne invited Radhouane El Meddeb to present a site-specific choreographic performance for six dancers, Les danses de TRANS/HUMANCE, on 2 February 2020, to coincide with “TRANS/HUMANCE”, a temporary exhibition devoted to the Turkish-born feminist artist Nil Yalter.
In 2021 he will present REQUIEM (Sià Karà) with the Italian composer Matteo Franceschini, performed by the Cuban dancers of MiCompañia directed by the choreographer Susana Pous Anadon.
