The dialogue between music and dance carries and sweeps the dancers into a vast rhythmic and narrative journey where they give free rein to their energy and impulses. This mirrors the eagerness of RONE and the collective at the head of the Ballet National de Marseille to explore “the boundaries and necessary interdependence of bodies” and to express “the suffering and legitimate anger of members of today’s young generation who seek to gather in communities of celebration and protest to find a meaning for their lives”: reasons to stay alive when faced with the crushing prospect of collapse. In collaboration with the climber and performer Antoine Le Menestrel, (LA)HORDE offers its own form of protest by making bodies fly, spin and fall in a maelstrom of acrobatic figures, contorsions and “hacked haka”. Shared impulses, electronic arabesques, lines of perspective: an unsettling space emerges, revealing the paradoxical beauty of chaos in a world of endless violence.
