Fluidity, elegance and musicality characterise the work of Emanuel Gat, an Israeli choreographer who lives in Marseille. He always orchestrates bodies with music in mind; here it’s by the British pop duo Tears for Fears, bringing back the carefree atmosphere of the 1980s, whose utopian force and epic groove inspire a continuous flow of movements, embraces and joyous explosions. In a series of ensemble pieces, duets and complex solos, the scenes move back and forth between theatricality and fluidity, ending in an explosive finale set to Sowing the Seeds of Love. Created during lockdown, LOVETRAIN2020 is a fireworks display of joy, shared vitality and expressive power punctuated by moments of silence and subtly shaded intervals. A perfect balance between an iconic soundtrack, flamboyant costumes and a fresh approach to the expressiveness of dance.
